The problem

You've built product-market fit. You have traction.
The capital between seed and Series-A is thin.
VCs want more proof. You need capital, now.

Questions, answered precisely

Everything you'd ask before you apply.

Q / 01What is Cradle Elevate?

Cradle Elevate is a bridging equity investment programme designed for early-stage startups transitioning from Seed to Series-A. It is designed to accelerate high-potential ventures toward institutional readiness. It provides capital in collaboration with a Partner Investor, ensuring both funding and strategic alignment. Beyond financial returns, the initiative aims to de-risk early-stage investment while driving broader economic multiplier effects.

Q / 02What is the funding size, and how is it structured?

Each startup may receive funding up to RM2,000,000. The investment is deployed in two tranches, with Cradle investing first, followed by Partner Investor(s) who may match or exceed the amount. All commitments are formalized through the relevant subscription instruments.

Q / 03Who is eligible to apply for Cradle Elevate?

To qualify, your startup must:

  • Be incorporated as a Sdn Bhd in Malaysia
  • Have a minimum paid-up capital of RM10,000
  • Ensure no single shareholder owns 25% or more of company's equity
  • Own the Intellectual Property rights to the prototype, products, and/or services
Q / 04What are the target sectors for Cradle Elevate?

We are sector agnostic, with a focus on startups that demonstrate strong growth potential, scalability and high value creation.

Q / 05Is the investment structured as equity, convertible note, or another instrument?

Cradle may subscribe to one or a combination of the following share classes issued by the Target Company:

  • Ordinary shares
  • Cumulative preference shares
  • Redeemable cumulative preference shares
  • Redeemable cumulative convertible preference shares
  • Convertible preference shares
Q / 06What is the investment tenure, and what are the exit criteria?

The typical investment horizon ranges from 3 to 7 years, with a maximum of up to 10 years per company. Throughout this period, Cradle works with the startup and investor to identify and plan the most appropriate exit strategy.

Q / 07Can I apply if I do not currently have a co-investor or Partner Investor lined up?

Yes, absolutely. You do not need a Partner Investor to apply. If your startup demonstrates strong potential, Cradle will work with you to identify and connect with suitable Partner Investors as part of the process.

Q / 08How can an investor become a Partner Investor under Cradle Elevate?

Drop us a message at elevate@cradle.com.my with your details and investment focus. We will follow up to explore potential investment opportunities.

Q / 09Will Cradle lead the investment round?

Not necessarily. The lead may be taken by either Cradle or the Partner Investor(s).

Q / 10What milestone(s) must a startup achieve to unlock further investment from Partner Investor(s)?

Partner Investor(s) may set milestones as conditions for their investment. These milestone(s) are mutually agreed upon by the startup, Cradle and the Partner Investor(s) during the deal structuring process.

Q / 11What happens if a startup fails to meet the milestone(s) required for follow-on investment?

If milestones are not met, Partner Investor(s) may still proceed with the investment at their discretion. This provides flexibility for investors while encouraging startups to work towards clearly defined goals.

Q / 12What is the application process, and how long does it take from deck submission to investment decision?

Send your investor pitch deck to elevate@cradle.com.my. We will acknowledge receipt and complete an initial screening within one week. If shortlisted, the full process from submission to investment decision typically takes about 3 to 4 months.

Q / 13What other support will Cradle provide to the investee companies?

We offer a range of value-added support to help portfolio companies scale, including:

  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Investor matching and introductions
  • Market access facilitation
  • PR and media support
